Live Meeting Demonstration

This session will demonstrate how to use Microsoft's Live Meeting to make User Group meetings, SIGs, and Board of Director meetings available to members who cannot attend. With transportation costs going up, many of our members cannot physically get to all meetings, and many snow-birds are out of state. Services such as Live Meeting can allow those members to attend.
This session will be recorded and also be made available on the web.

Old Style User Group Roundtable

An Old Style User Group Roundtable… metaphorically speaking !!

Years ago the educational sessions that were held at FACUG Conferences were called Roundtables. Think about that term Roundtable”and visualize a group of people all facing each other, communicating with one another. Unlike a class or lecture, all that was needed was someone to facilitate the discussion aka the Facilitator.

That is what Marie and Dave are bringing to this session. Let’s sit and share things that work and things that can improve our user groups. With the experience in the whole room, we should have any answer you need. From keeping volunteers, raising money, looking within your group for instructors, and finding new leaders.
You determine the subjects
You determine the content
You do most of the talking
Hopefully we all walk away with new ideas !!!

Online Meetings for Group Collaboration

Online Meetings for Group Collaboration Hewie & Mike have been testing a variety of programs and services in order to determine which would be the best options to connect User Group members.

This session will be a comparison of several of those services. Some are free, and some have monthly or yearly costs.

Photoshop Express

Photoshop Express is a free digital photo program that helps you manage, store, enhance, and share your pix in some very cool ways. It doesn't have all of the features of Photoshop, but it's much easier to use, and lets you be creative in ways that Photoshop doesn't.

Setting Up Your Wireless Network

There's more to home networking than just using a router to allow your PCs to connect to the Internet. The greatest advantage to having a home network is to share peripheral devices, provide shared storage and improve the security of your travels on the Internet. This presentation will show you how to network your computers and peripherals and how to share storage space between computers. I will also describe the security features of a typical router that you control to reduce your vulnerability on the Internet.

Streaming Your Group's Meeting Live On the Internet

TBCS is now broadcasting many of our SIGS live online (plus we record them for later download). Tom engineered our setup for us.

While it cost us approximately $1,000 for the hardware to do it, streaming and recording for download are free. Tom will show his design, plus offer lower cost solutions to smaller groups.

Technology Is Changing Our World

Technology is just a bustin' out all over: cloud computing, mesh computing, Internet 2.0, Web 2.0, Web 3.0... What are these new technologies, and how are they going to interact with one another to change our world.

Doc will attempt to explain and predict. Awareness of shifting paradigms will help to prepare you for the road ahead.

Using Microsoft Photo Story

Windows Movie Maker is a free download from Microsoft. It's an excellent tool for editing your home movie clips together and adding in narration and music.
