The Florida Association of Computer User Groups (“FACUG”) knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This Statement describes our privacy policy with respect to information that we collect through this site. By visiting this site, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Statement.

FACUG is based in the United States of America. FACUG is a non-profit entity whose purpose is to promote, assist, and foster communication among and between personal computer user groups statewide.

Information We Collect And How We Use It
The information we gather falls into two categories:
- personal information you supply, and
- tracking information collected as you navigate through our site.
Personally Identifiable Information
We will collect personally identifiable information whenever you do the following:
- Register for an FACUG Event. When you register for an FACUG event, such as the FACUG Conference, we will collect personally identifiable information about you such as your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and telephone number. We may also collect additional information, such as your meal preferences or whether you require handicapped access. We use this information to process and communicate with you about your registration. We may also share this information with event service providers as necessary to plan and coordinate the event. In addition, we may provide a list of event attendees and their contact information (email and/or mailing address) to the sponsors and vendors who supported the event.
- Submit a Membership or Renewal Application. When you submit an application for your User Group to become an FACUG member, we collect personally identifiable information such as your name, address, telephone number and email address, as well as information about your Group. We use this information to process and manage your User Group’s membership in FACUG.
- We use the information provided in a User Group’s membership or renewal application to maintain a Combined Database (CDB) of member groups. Some of the information in the CDB is available publicly on our website (User Group name, location, contact name, meeting dates and times, email and/or telephone contact). This public information is used to provide individuals a searchable database of User Groups in their areas. In addition, this public information may be provided to FACUG sponsors and vendors for the express purpose of soliciting their products and/or services to our member groups.
FACUG management and Advisors will also use the contact information in the CBD to communicate with member groups via email. These communications may include general news and information concerning FACUG, news and information about other User Groups who are members of FACUG, FACUG events, Regional Events, and other news that may be of interest to our member groups. These communications may also include news or announcements of special offers by FACUG sponsors and vendors. Should you or your User Group desire not to receive these messages at any time, you may have your email address removed from any further mailing by replying directly to the message sent and placing the words “Opt out” in the body of the email
- Submit an inquiry or comment. You may contact any FACUG Officer or Board Member through this site. To better respond to your inquiries or comments, we collect your name, address, User Group name, and email address. We use this information solely to respond to your request.
- Complete a survey.On occasion, we may request that you complete a survey. Your participation in any survey is completely voluntary. If you complete a survey, we will use the information you provide to help us enhance this site, and the products and services we offer.
- Submit an article for FACUG Proceedings. FACUG Proceedings is a quarterly publication designed to inform and educate our member user groups. We encourage and will consider your submission of articles for inclusion in the FACUG Reports. When you submit an article, we collect your name, User Group name, and email address. If we publish your article in FACUG Proceedings, we will identify you as the author.
Aggregate Information
When you use our site, we may collect tracking information such as your browser type, the type of operating system you use, the domain name of your Internet service provider, and pages visited on the site. None of this information identifies you personally; we collect it for aggregate reporting on site activity. For example, we may want to know how long the average user spends on our site, or which pages or features get the most attention. We use this information to make the site more useful to our visitors and members.
Cookies. A cookie is a block of text placed in a file on your hard drive by a Web site you’ve visited. We use cookies to understand how our site visitors click to our site and what pages they view during their visit. We do not store any personal or financial information in any cookie at any time.
We may also use a “session cookie,” which is not placed on your hard drive. A session cookie is a piece of identification between your browser and our server that keeps track of session information, such as the information you supply to register for an event. This cookie will disappear when the session expires or when you close your browser.
The “help” function on most browsers contains information on how to set your browser to notify you before accepting cookies or to disable cookies entirely. However, if you don’t accept cookies, you won’t be able to take advantage of various features on our site that are available to other visitors.
Do We Share the Information We Receive?
- Although the information we collect about you is important to us, we are not in the business of selling that information to others. We may, however, share your information with third parties as described above in the Section entitled “Information We Collect And How We Use It.”
- In addition, aggregate information that does not identify particular individuals, such as the number or percentage of visitors who fall within a certain category or categories, may be provided to third parties.
- We may also share your information with third parties in the following circumstances:
Agents: We may employ third party agents to perform functions on our behalf. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes. Examples include fulfilling orders, delivering packages, sending mail, and analyzing data.
Protection of FACUG and Others: We may release personal information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law; enforce or apply our Terms of Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of FACUG, our users, or others. However, this does not include selling, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from customers for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Statement.
Business Transfers: In the event that FACUG or substantially all of its assets are acquired, member information may be one of the transferred business assets but will remain subject to the promises made in any pre-existing Privacy Statement.
With Your Consent: Other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might be shared with third parties, and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share the information.
How Secure is the Information that We Collect?
FACUG believes in providing a safe and secure online experience for all of our members and website visitors.
Despite all these precautions, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
How do I Opt Out or Change my Information?
The designated contact person for a User Group can update certain User Group information in the CDB by logging in with the appropriate user name and password. For example, if your User Group’s regular meeting date changes, the designated contact person can update this information in our database.
We recognize that you may not want to receive the news and general information and/or special offers that FACUG or its Regional Advisors may regularly send to its Members Groups via email. Should you or your User Group desire not to receive such communications at any time, you may opt out of further communications of this type by replying directly to the message sent and placing the words “Opt out” in the body of the email.
Children’s Policy
We understand and share your concerns regarding your children’s access to the internet and the internet’s access to your children. Consistent with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we do not knowingly request or accept information submitted to this site by any visitor under 13 years of age.
If we become aware that an individual under 13 has provided information to us through this site, we will not use or disclose that individual’s information for any purpose unless required to do so by law.

This site contains links to other third party sites that are not under our control. These sites have their own policies regarding privacy, and you should review these policies before providing information to these sites. FACUG has no responsibility for linked websites and provides these links solely for the convenience and information of our visitors and members.
Terms of Use, Notices, and Revisions
If you choose to visit www.facug.org, your visit and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Statement and our Terms of Use, including limitations on liability and damages, application of the law of the State of Indiana and resolution of any disputes in Indiana. If you have any concern about privacy at www.facug.org, please contact us with a thorough description, and we will try to resolve it.
As our business changes, and our Privacy Statement and the Terms of Use may change also. We may e-mail periodic reminders of our notices and conditions, unless you have instructed us not to, but you should check our site frequently to see recent changes. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Statement applies to all information that we have about you. We stand behind the promises we make, however, and will never materially change our policies and practices to make them less protective of information collected in the past without notifying affected individuals, either by communicating directly with those individuals or by posting the changes on this site.
